Well, in Aliens they weren't building anything after all. They were stuck without their dropship, improvising defences in civilian facility. Of course, it was idiotic that they didn't leave anyone on the ship who could come down and rescued them ;-p but mostly they got screwed because they were sent on their mission totally unprepared by people who weren't even taking it seriously. A larger and better equipped force would have cleaned up the aliens no problem. As for Starship Troopers... yeah, no excuse. Of course, the movie was a parody of the book anyway and kind of making fun the U.S. and its tendency to send its troops to stupid places to die for stupid reasons.
@@TonboIV Well the bugs where an actual threat so not stupid reasons. Just stupid in how they sent and equipped the troops. This kind of Mobile Artillery Base be the best way to take on bugs that only really swarm or dig under stationary targets for surprise attacks since it would take a while to for them to dig a tunnel under the target.
